8:00 - 9:15

Children arrive

Self registration - name cards into happy or sad boxes

Child led activities incl. role play and quiet area

As soon as the majority of children have arrived free flow play begins; where children can access either indoor or outdoor activities whatever the weather.
9:15 - 9:30

Circle time, consisting of the following:

  • Day and month
  • Sound of week (Jolly phonics)
  • Count number of boys/girls and find numerals on wall. Add together then clap or jump appropriate amount of times.

Prayer:

  • Jesus friend, of little children
    At the start of this new day
    Be thou my Guide and helper
    In my work and in my play. Amen
9:30 - 11:10

Children and practitioners divide into two groups, some children to have snack while others go outside.

  • Books.

Prayer:

  • Thank you for the world so sweet,
    Thank you for the food we eat
    Thank you for the birds that sing,
    Thank you God for everything. Amen

Drink and snack - children independently serve their own snack

Free flow play continued after snack

11:10 - 11:30

Musical activities:

  • Action songs
  • Ring games
  • Percussion

Colour of the week and song

Prepare for lunch

Or if going home at 12.00, small group play

Times are flexible to allow for activities to be completed. Afternoon session follows same structure.

The nursery is constantly thinking of new ideas and ventures for the children in order to enable them to expand their knowledge, skills and development.

The nursery also arranges special visits and topics like:-

  • a maths workshop for children and one for parents

  • visits from Zoolab, The Guide Dogs, RNLI, RSPB Early Years Habitat Explorer session, local musicians and others

  • continuing with our visits to The Links Care Home

  • continue to develop our networking with local preschools and schools

  • develop our woodwork activities using real tools with a local carpenter

  • networking with a nursery abroad

  • fundraising for local charities and events like Broadstone Christmas Lights
